In diagnostics and clinical environments, the choice of applicator tip determines sample recovery rates. Polyurethane sponge swabs are manufactured via a prepolymer gas-expansion process, resulting in an open-cell structure. This spatial matrix acts as a capillary network, pulling liquids efficiently into the core of the swab. Polyester swabs, conversely, utilize non-woven filaments, which are optimal for high abrasion resistance but possess lower liquid capacity.
Standard cheap applicators rely on chemical adhesives to bind the sponge head to the polypropylene shaft. This introduces contaminants like organic silicones and resins, which leach out during use and corrupt lab assays or cleanroom processes. Our OEM/ODM manufacturing processes rely entirely on thermal bonding technology (heat fusion), eliminating chemical contaminants entirely.
We fabricate swab shafts using virgin polypropylene (PP) or anti-static ESD-safe polymers. Standard lengths range from 70mm for precision micro-cleaning to 150mm and 200mm for deep clinical sampling or machine cleaning.
